Inside Vision/Beliefs
The Vision of Free Inside.
-To take the Christian message into prisons,
using the Alpha
Course.
-To train volunteers from local churches in prison
ministry using the Alpha
Course.
-To alert churches to the opportunities that exist for
prison ministry and to help churches establish their
own prison ministry.
What is Alpha? (click links for more info)
-Alpha is an
opportunity to explore the meaning of life, through a
15 session, Biblically based course that covers the
basics of Christian belief.
-Alpha is an
internationally recognized, non-denominational and
Biblical presentation of the Christian Faith.
-Alpha promotes
relational Christianity in an age of increasing
alienation. (The prison population is the most lonely
and alienated cultural group in the USA).
Foundational Beliefs of Free Inside.
-Free Inside
is a Christ centered ministry dedicated
to bringing the love
of Jesus Christ to prisoners. The Ministry is based on
the following statement of belief. As a volunteer with
Free Inside I confirm my own commitment to these core
values.
-The Bible
is fully inspired by the Holy Spirit; it is the
authoritative Word of God for belief and practice.
-There
is only one God
who exists as a Trinity of persons, Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. He has revealed Himself through His
creation, through His inspired Word (the Bible) and
supremely through His Son Jesus Christ, the second
person of the Trinity.
-Every
person
is made in the image of God and is therefore of
intrinsic worth as an individual. Every person is by
nature and action a sinner and needs redemption from
sin.
-Jesus
Christ
took our human nature, was born of the virgin Mary,
lived a perfect, sinless life and offered that life as a
perfect and effective sacrifice on the Cross for our
sins. He rose again bodily as proof of His victory over
sin and death and will return to earth again in power
and glory.
-The
Holy Spirit,
the third person of the Trinity applies the benefits of
Christ’s death to sinners by leading us to repentance
and faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
He, (the
Holy Spirit)
supplies all the necessary grace and power for those who
trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to live
effectively as Christians in the world.
-All who
believe in Jesus Christ
need each other. God has provided the fellowship of the
Church so that through the gifts and graces supplied by
the Holy Spirit we can lovingly help each other to grow
to maturity in our experience and understanding of
Christ and His Word. |
